The release of this video is another step in the EBU’s aim to increase openness in the voting. This year, for the first time ever, the EBU will also publish the individual rankings per jury member, as well as televoting rankings per country, right after the Final. The names of all 185 judges – 5 per country – will be released on the 1st of May.
“Most people have no idea about what is going on behind the scenes to assure that at the end of the Final, we have a correct result, in accordance with the Rules of the Eurovision Song Contest. This video will hopefully clarify,” says Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the contest.
Every year, the European Broadcasting Union, together with its voting partner Digame, is undertaking an enormous logistical operation to make sure that the outcome of the Eurovision Song Contest is correct. The meticulously planned procedure, which takes months of preparations, is overlooked by notaries in all participating countries and independent PwC observers.
