MADRID, SPAIN – The song which came runner-up at this year’s Spanish National Final, “Victorious” which was performed by Xuso Jones has been accused by British producer/composer Clyde Ward of plagiarism.
Clyde Ward produced a song by the same name in November 2014 that was part of the selection process for the Cyprus National Final in 2015 and was performed by Yuri Melikov.
The song in question shared many similarities with the one performed by Xuso Jones, something that has been noted by Warner/Chapell Germany and the person who worked with Clyde Ward on the song.
Both the chorus and the lyrics are considered to be the same and therefore this could be seen as a breach of copyright. Ward has asked his lawyer to study the case in depth in order to judge if to proceed with a legal summons.
Clyde Ward is noted for his production work in the UK, Germany and the USA. Among others, he has worked with George Michael, Sting and Right Said Fred.
He also worked closely with Alex Christensen, who represented Germany in 2009, to compose massive hits during the 90s and 2000s.
