ULLA & ABDEL TO HOST PRESS CONFERENCES
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – The Eurovision Song Contest is more than just three shows. From April 28th more than 80 press conferences will be held on Eurovision Island in Copenhagen during the rehearsals and shows. DR has appointed Ulla Essendrop and Abdel Aziz Mahmoud to host and moderate the press conferences during Eurovision in Copenhagen. They are well-known for Danish TV viewers as they are both hosts on DR. When 2000 journalists will be attending the Eurovision rehearsals it is Ulla and Abdel that will make sure that the press conferences will be kept in good order.
Ulla Essendrop has a master in communication and media studies and she used to be a sport host on TV2 and is now a sport host on DR. She knows the Eurovision Song Contest very well as she hosted the Head of Delegation meeting in March and the Allocation Draw in January together with Tine Gøtzsche. For Ulla it is important that the press conferences can develop themselves and she will not ask the participants a lot of questions if there are a lot of questions from the journalists. She wants to keep a good tone and she doesn’t fear political questions during the press conferences. Like in sport, Eurovision and politics should be kept separate, she says.
Abdel Aziz Mahmoud is a journalist as he has worked on the Danish radio channel P3 and hosted several TV shows on DR. Currently he is working in the production of the talk show on Danish channel DR2 “Sunday Live”. He says that Denmark will show its best during Eurovision and their job as press conference hosts is to show the best of Denmark as well. He will now have to read about all 37 participants so he knows everything about them before the press conference.
They both look forward to be a part of the largest and longest party ever!
