UKRAINE – Following the chaos in the Ukrainian selection aftermath and its UA:PBC ending decision about Maruv, we have asked the European Broadcasting Union to comment. it is fair to say that due to the Eurovision rules, EBU cannot do anything until a national broadcaster confirms a participation although in this case we have clear human rights violation. Yes, it is true that all Vidbir finalists knew the rules and the contract in advance but still that doesn’t make it morally right.
Each participating broadcaster is responsible for the selection of their participant for the Eurovision Song Contest in accordance to the rules set out by the European Broadcasting Union. The EBU are unable to comment on any participant until they have been confirmed by their country’s broadcaster to represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest.
