GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – After snubbing the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, and organizing its Turkic counterpart Türkvisyon, TRT has moved a step further…
A few weeks ago, various websites, quoting the Turkish broadcaster, declared that EBU president Jean-Paul Philippot (from RTBF) had officially apologized to the Turkish broadcaster concerning the voting system, in an effort to get the country back into the Eurovision family.
We can now reveal that this apology is just a Turkish fantasy since it has never been expressed! EBU Eurovision Twitter account clearly underlined the lie:
@KILICASLAN “Untrue. There was no apology. Turkey has been a great #ESC contestant and we want them back in. EBU-TRT dialogue is ongoing.”
Nevertheless, the so-called dialogue seems to be over now as TRT has once again declared its intention to stay far away from Copenhagen.
