THOMAS TROELSEN PENS WORLD CUP THEME
The Danish composer of Germany’s 2008 Eurovision Song Contest entry, Thomas Troelsen, has penned this year’s official FIFA World Cup Song “We are one (Ole Ola)”, sung by Jennifer Lopes, Claudia Leitte and Pittbull. “I sent a song to Pitbull’s manager and they returned back saying that they would like to work on it for his next album – and then they spent a long time working on it”, Trolesen says. However, the song was ultimately chosen as the World Cup theme song.
Troelsen composed the entry “Disappear” for No Angels from Germany which ended up 19th on the stage in Belgrade. In addition, he has composed the song “Lucky Boy” for Jeppe Laursen who took part in the 2009 Danish national selection Melodi Grand Prix. Troelsen describes his World Cup song as, “one that is easy to sing along to in a stadium. It doesn’t have the big meaning, just this about everyone showing where they are from and then stand together in the end about a big event”.
