THE NETHERLANDS – We all agree that AVROTROS went into league B regarding the choice of their Eurovision entrant this year. But Duncan Laurence might easily prove them wrong. Why should a country send to Eurovision only a famous artist? Was Netta actually anything in the Israeli music scene before Eurovision? Duncan will prove the fans (especially the Dutch moaners) wrong or right with his song and his performance. Until then we can enjoy the lovely twitter reactions.
Duncan Laurence was born in 1994 in Spijkenisse, The Netherlands. He graduated this year from the Rock Academy in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Here he developed himself as a singer, songwriter and music producer. Besides that, he spent a lot of time writing songs in London and Stockholm.
“In the past few years many well known artists represented The Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest. I’m not well-known, but that’s also a good thing; The Netherlands has a lot of young and talented musicians. My participation proves that nothing is impossible. You can suddenly get the opportunity to represent your country on an international stage. I’m very proud to represent my country… I will give it my all!”.
Laurence started his musical career at the Rock Academy in Tilburg, playing in a number of school bands. He recently graduated from the school. He participated in the fifth season of The Voice of Holland, under the coaching of Ilse DeLange. He, with Jihad Rahmouni, wrote the song “Closer” on K-pop duo TVXQ’s 2018 album New Chapter #1: The Chance of Love.
Surely you folks repping Oz, and one of your tour acts Duncan Laurence repping The Netherlands, it's written in the stars!??

Duncan Laurence seems promising but AVROTROS really shouldn't have revealed their participant on the same day as San Marino
