The Netherlands 2018 🇳🇱 second rehearsal: a good urban rock on stage
Fotis Konstantopoulos (Greece)
THE NETHERLANDS – Waylon, with his backup singers on drums and guitar performed wholeheartedly with a gig that evolves from band to an all out dance routine. The performance is noteworthy of its reminder to southern American rock ‘n’ roll style both in costume and sound. The song stands out, as I believe it was intended to, even if only for cultural and aesthetic reasons. The Netherlands are not doing well on the betting odds for the win but it seems that the country will easily qualify to the Grand Final. The Netherlands keep sending to Eurovision songs from thee mainstream urban music scene and every time the European audience appreciate it.

THE NETHERLANDS 🇳🇱 ON THE WEB
ESCKAZ.COM: No changes indeed – in the hall the first part of the performance is everything you’d expect this song to have as a staging, but later on when the crumping gets in it starts looking stranger, even though it seems to me it has been toned down a bit.
ESCBUBBLE.COM: Waylon knows he’s good – but it could seem a little bit too smarmy for the voting audience.
ESCXTRA.COM: Waylon’s vocals are undeniably perfect for this and the backing vocals work well with the lead singer.
EUROVOIX.COM: Smoke for the second run through at the start of the performance. The song is still a qualifier, but in the final it’s probably going to struggle to replicate their previous success.
