
The Netherlands 2016: is it Douwe Bob after all?
HILVERSUM, THE NETHERLANDS – The Netherlands is likely to become the first country to select its representative for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. According to Dutch media, broadcaster AVROTROS has decided for Douwe Bob to represent the nation in Stockholm next year.
The 22-year-old was the 2012 winner of “De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland” (The Best Singer-Songwriter in the Netherlands). While AVROTROS has said it is in contact with Bob, it added that a final decision will be made in two to six weeks.
Douwe Bob has released two albums since winning the singer songwriter competitiont and has collaborated with 2013 Dutch Eurovision representative Anouk during the production of the song “Hold me”.

After failing to qualify to the final this year, the Netherlands is looking to return to Eurovision with a strong song entry and resume its recent run of relatively good results, which saw The Common Linnets come second in 2014 and Anouk finish ninth two years ago.
