ALBANIA – In her interview, Lindita, the 2017 Albanian representative in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest speaks about her big weight loss: “My turning point was one day when I was riding to bus to school, I was 18, there was an older lady. I saw her looking at me and I guess she thought I was pregnant. She was kind enough to ask me if I want to take her seat and I felt really embarrassed. I started crying, and she asked me ‘Are you OK?’. I was like, ‘yeah, I’m just feeling like I’m giving birth, I’m in pain right now’. That’s when I realized that I have to do something or else it’s going to turn serious for me.”
POLAND – On January 27th, TVP will announce the finalists for Krajowe Eliminacje 2017, through which the country will decide its participation for Kyiv. Submissions due anyway on January 20th. The date for the national final has not yet decided but for sure the winner will be declared by jury and tele voting. In case of a tie public voting will prevail.
SWEDEN – TV4 held their annual Tillsammans Mot Cancer gala. A vast assembly of talent got together in an effort to make viewers pledge money towards the cause, and one of the big highlights of the evening was undoubtedly Loreen’s star turn. Backed by Linnea Olsson on cello and backing vocals, she performed a stunning cover of Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes’ 80s classic ‘Up Where We Belong’. A welcome reminder of what an enormous talent she is once she gets onto a stage – and right in time for next month’s return to Melodifestivalen.
SLOVENIA – Here’s the TV trailer for the Slovenian national selection set for 17 and 18th of February for the two semi finals and 24th of February for the national final.
MONTENEGRO – The 2017 Montenegrin representative, Slavko Kalezić, will be in Spain next month, visiting Madrid from February 2nd to 7th. If anyone is there to enjoy him send us ho pics please.
GREECE – What ever happened to Koza Mostra? The 2013 Greek representatives after their 6th position in the final, continue to travel all over the balkans and share their music. Revamped band line up and new collaborations are characteristic for the band.
CZECH REPUBLIC – Around 300 songs reportedly submitted to the national broadcaster for the Eurovision Song Contest and they have been narrowed down to five according to the Czech HoD. It has been also announced that the country will continue using the name Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song coNTEST 2017.
GEORGIA – The running order for the Georgian national final set for January 20th has been announced. Final of the Georgian national preselection will take place in the format of one Final show with 25 participants aired on 20 January live from Philharmonic Hall in Tbilisi at 20:00 local time (17:00 CET). Tickets will go on sale on 26 December at TKT.ge. Its winner will be determined by the televoting (30%) and international jury vote (70%). Televoting will be open after all participating entries are presented and will run for 15 minutes. It will be possible to send up to 5 SMS votes from one phone.
