Andreas Johnson – “Army of Us” – Predict Andra Chansen
Andreas is no stranger to the Melfest stage and actually came very close to winning as well. Unfortunately recently his attempts have been less well received even when performing with Melfest Queen, Carola. This years entry Army of Us is a very Coldplay style song and doesn’t sound dissimilar to one of their songs. In the world of Melfest these songs can do well but sometimes get lost in the competition. Certainly a song that lends itself to the new age group voting though.
Malou Prytz – “I Do Me” – Predict 6th Place
On to a completely new talent with 15 year old, Malou, who is performing her debut single co-written by another Melfest alumni, ISA. The song isn’t bad at all and is a teenage pop banger. What she lacks is the energy and presence that ISA has. So she is a competent performer but I Do Me just comes across as filler which is a shame but we will surely see her again soon.

Oscar Enestad – “I Love It” – Predict Andra Chansen
Now that FO&O have taken a break, we have all of them singing separately now. Felix came second last year and this year we have Oscar and Omar competing. So Oscar’s entry I Love It is a typical ‘boy band’=esque gentle verse and dance chorus. Not horrible but it feels recycled even with the staging within a box like Eric Saade or Martin Rolinski. His fanbase is big enough to at least continue his efforts.
Jan Malmsjö – “Leva Livet” (Live Life) – Predict 7th Place
On to this week’s pensioner entry, Jan, who came second in Melfest in 1969, yep 50 years ago! The song is actually really good but he can’t deliver it like a schlager diva could. What looks like a missed opportunity turns into at least pleasant padding for this semi. As sweet as it is it won’t do anything so why bother? Clearly just for the diversity quota.
Vlad Riser – “Nakna I Regnet” (Naked in the Rain) – Predict 5th Place
Vlad is a Youtube star that will easily turn a few heads. His entry Nakna I Regnet which translates to Naked in the Rain which will have most sitting up to pay attention. To many he will disappoint in countless ways. His attempt is a mix of a DJ club track with a commercial dance track. He lacks the singing ability and presence to carry off his performance creditably. His looks might be enough to get the young voting but doubt his qualification.
Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO – “Hold You” – Predict Direct to the Final
This is clearly the front runner tonight without even hearing the song. Pair up an Idol winner and an Idol runner up with a ballad and a wind machine its Melfest heaven. The song stands out amongst the rest because it sounds like a winner. The chemistry between the two really seems genuine and believable. The only question will be is this overall winner?
Maraget – “Tempo” – Predict Direct to the Final
Maraget, the Polish pop diva, is back after last year success with In My Cabana. This year her song Tempo is a cracker and should make an impact. Tempo continues with her Latin Dance Pop sound that In My Cabana created which makes this song feel like a sequel. I think she will take Andreas place in the final that the bookies have predicted. Her popularity continues to grow in Sweden and she continues to chart well and is heavily streamed on Spotify.
