Sweden 2018 🇸🇪 SVT will allow Kamferdrops to compete
SWEDEN – Well the scandals of Melodifestivalen have already started even before a single note has been sung. Tonight in Karlstad the first semi-final will take place in just a few hours but amongst some interesting controversy. The Kamferdrops song “Solen Lever Kvar Hos Dig” has been made available previously.
It seems that a fairly unknown Swedish artist, Jonny Fagerman, received a demo of the song from the writers back in 2009. Without the writers’ knowledge Jonny Fagerman had been sharing his version, “Solen Lever Kvar”, on his Facebook and MySpace pages. He had also been performing the song live as well. The Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet reported the scandal this morning and even linked to Jonny’s version which almost identical. Since then all social media links of the songs have now disappeared. Writers, Herbert Trus and Danne Attlerud, confirmed that Jonny Fagerman never had rights to release the song in any way.
SVT have just released a statement from Christer Björkman saying that the writers of the song have meant no intention to spread the work publicly. This is what made a big difference to the scandal last year with Anna Book causing her song to be disqualified. Anna’s song was previously included in the Moldovan selection so was intently shared and promoted by the songwriters which the broke the rules.
Heidi Musum, better known by her stage name Kamferdrops, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She first achieved recognition in Sweden and Norway in 2017, after her cover of Kikki Danielsson’s 1999 song “Jag trodde änglarna fanns” became a number-two hit in Sweden and top forty hit in Norway. She is known for always wearing a mask while making public appearances, and her songs are sung in Swedish. Kamferdrops will compete in Melodifestivalen 2018 with the song “Solen lever kvar hos dig”.
