Sweden 2015: SVT opens Melodifestivalen submissions
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Swedish songwriters and authors have been given the green light to submit their songs as the Swedish broadcaster SVT opens the search for its national selection, Melodifestivalen 2015.
After Sanna Nielsen’s incredible success at this year’s Eurovison Song Contest, SVT is keen to keep up its success by going for the immensely popular Melodifestivalen. After announcing a call for more female authors to come forward, and therefore increasing the requirement of female contributors to 50% in its rules, the broadcaster is now fully ready to receive submissions for the 2015 spectacle.
Songwriters and authors have exactly two weeks to submit their bubble gum pop, indulgent indie, heartfelt ballad, and any other possible music style, to SVT via its special portal site, which is set to close on Tuesday morning, September 16.
Like last year, the procedure for the 2015 event has been divided in two categories, in which songwriters who have not published any work before are asked to submit into the public competition, while ‘experienced’ songwriters are asked to send in their songs through the Regular competition category.
From September 16 onwards, a team of panellists appointed by SVT, will review all the uploaded content and create a shortlist.
For the names of any contestants, we’ll have to wait until late November-early December. Kalle Johansson however, the freshly-announced winner of Svensktoppen Nästa contest will be among them as the winner of the competition has been given a ticket as part of the price, to take part in Sweden’s biggest show Melodifestivalen.
