Sweden 2015: changes in Andra Chansen and reactions
SVT ANNOUNCE SECOND CHANCE CHANGES
Swedish national broadcaster announced changes in the Melodifestivalen second chance round called “Andra Chansen”. Remember that the recent year, this part of MF gave the winner of the entire show in 2013 and Robin Stjernberg represented the country in Malmoe’s Eurovision Song Contest.
First of all, after each semifinal SVT did not allow the second chance songs to be heard again in public. This changes and you will be able to listen to them again immediately when each semifinal ends. This aims to make better and exciting show for Second Chance, says Christer Björkman. The direct to the final qualifiers will not be available again on any media (including YouTube so be cautious with your uploads, SVT will claim them down) in order to give more boost to second chance entries.
As we already know in each semifinal (the first of which kicks of on February 7th) there will be 7 entries, two of them going directly to the final and 2 going to the second chance. From second chance, four will get a ticket to the final in which we will have a total of 12 entries.
CRITICISM ON SVT CHANGES
Two newspapers already criticised the SVT decision upon Andra Chansen changes. The new rules allow Second Chance songs to be on Radio after the semifinals unlike the direct qualifiers which can harm the favourites which usually are the direct qualifiers to the final according to Aftonbladet. On the other hand, Nöjesbladet’s Markus Larsson says that the only new thing by the rules is a long debate and accused SVT for obeying the record labels
