SVT INTERVIEWS HELENA & OIKOTIMES.COM
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Despite the crisis Greece will compete in the Eurovision Song Contest and this year it is their 40th anniversary. To compete in the Eurovision Song Contest the countries must play 1 million Swedish kroner to EBU each. It’s the only thing Greek tax payers will pay in the very end, says oikotimes.com’s chief editor Fotis Konstantopoulos amongst other.
Greeks dont think they will win this years Eurovision Song Contest, but they participate to be a part of Europe, despite the finansial crisis. Dimitris Mantzilas (Eurovision expert) says that only countries with economic resources can win and Greece is not a country with money anymore, so it is impossible to win.
Greece’s singing bird Helena Paparizou thinks that it is important to the country to participate in the competition even though Greece is in a crisis. They have to entertain themselves, so Greeks have more than just crisis in mind.
