SPAIN 2014: LISTEN TO THE BIDDING SONGS
MADRID, SPAIN – Spanish national broadcaster presented today the five songs for the national final through which Spain will decide its representative and entry for Copenhagen’s Eurovision Song Contest edition. The national final will take place on a date soon to be revealed but in the meantime we listened to the five bids and we have our own opinion.
Raul – Seguir sin ti
Very nice song but this is not fit for Eurovision Song Contest. It could work out for Spain in Eurovision 90s but definitely it is not the right song for 2014. There is nothing bad in the song, the tune is great, the vocals are interesting and the Spanish language is once again amazing in a Spanish ballad. But, this is not a song that can win Eurovision 2014!
Ruth Lorenzo – Dancing in the rain
Very interesting tune but at the same time very risky. The song is original, nothing we heard before in Eurovision Song Contest and we feel that a live performance as in the mp3 can really bring the trophy to Spain. Ruth though has a great competition by Brequette, though whoever (from those two) wins the ticket to Eurovision 2014, will be a hot favourite to win the contest (and mark my words).
La Dama – Estrella Fugaz
One more interesting song which grows as the song progresses. Interesting tune and dance mood here but something is missing to make it a perfect entry. Not bad for Eurovision but I emphasise it misses something that will make it a totally magic entry. Nice production and original tune for Eurovision Song Contest though.
Brequette – Mas / Run
One of the best entries in this year’s national selection with amazing international tune and totally appealing. It is for sure the favourite song this year and we are amazed with the production of the song. It can work totally on TV especially if TVE and artist’s team take care of the presentation. We only hope the singer to deliver the song in live version as it sounds in the mp3.
Jorge Gonzalez – Auque se acabe el mundo
Interesting Spanish pop song with spanish flavour in the tune. Nothing special and definitely not a winning song. No matter how impressive his stage presentation will be the song remains simply good but not a potential winner for Eurovision Song Contest.
In my view, Ruth Lorenzo & Brequette-Mas will fight for the ticket to Copenhagen. Both songs can do something good in Eurovision 2014. Though I prefer Brequette’s entry as this song can actually bring the contest to Madrid or Barcelona. It is clear that Spain is entering the hot favourites this year and we are so happy to see the giant called TVE to finally waking up!
