PARIS, FRANCE – On November 26th, an expert jury gathered in Paris in order to select the 3 entries that will participate to the French national final this year. In a surpising move, the names have already been revealed. The jury was composed of 14 members:
Laurent Bentata (CEO of Stage Entertainment France)
Bruno Berberes (Casting director and former head of delegation)
Laura Cès (singer and actress)
Mary De Vivo (Director of the tank)
Michelin Valerie (manageress)
Franck Saurat (TV Producer)
Dominique Bourron (Delegate music France Bleu, the national public radio service)
Farouk Vallette (Member of OGAE France).
Morgane Buret (member of the public and winner of the contest organized by France3)
Thierry Langlois (General Director of France 3)
Yann Chapellon (CEO of FranceTelevisions Distribution)
Marie-Claire Mezerette (Director of the entertainment unit of France 3)
Frédéric Valencak (Assistant to M-C Mezerette and Head of the French delegation at Eurovision)
Olivier Daube (France Ô, broadcaster of the Eurovision semi-finals)
The selection was done in two stages. First the jury listened to all the potential entries, being given no information about the performers identities. They then chose 5 songs. In a second round, 3 entries were eventually selected after a vote. So here are the lucky winners :
Destan (a Universal Music pop band composed of Dean, Killian and Quentin who recently premiered their first track « Vole ») who will perform the song Sans Toi
Twin Twin (a Warner Music band composed of twin brothers Lorent and François, and beatboxer Patrick, who issued their first album « Vive la Vie » last April, at the crossroad of hip-hop, pop, electro and rock music) with the song Moustache
Joanna Lagrave (a young singer-author-composer, who released a song « L’Ecole Des Duplicatas » in 2009 and took part to the « Joe Dassin » musical for two years. She is influenced by many trends, from jazz to rock music) with the song Ma Liberté.
We can say that the expert jury has gone for newcomers on the French music scene, but promising ones for once. The French will definitely have a choice to make this year. The songs won’t be heard before the final, to be held on January 26th during Natasha St-Pier’s show Les Chansons D’Abord.
