Something is moving on RTVE
Victor Cruz (Spain)
Like all participants in Eurovision, RTVE is not far behind and is already working on the draft Stockholm 2016. It is unclear if decided by the internal choice or preselect few artists (three to five nominations). They are already several artists who have openly declared their intention and desire to try to represent Spain in Eurovision 2016. We’ll tell you a little about them:
Jorge Gonzalez (NF 2009, 2010, 2014) who openly expressed his intention to go to Eurovision to the media, although he refuses to participate in a national final and only accept if he was chosen internally for Stockholm.
Abraham Mateo (1998) teen idol, who during an interview to Non Stop People he was asked if he wants to show his talent in a show like the Eurovision Song Contest. “Yes, I am ready to perform in Eurovision,” the singer responded to a ‘tweet’ follower. Abraham likes to try new experiences and one would be the Eurovision Song Contest. It could also be the perfect platform to promote his latest album “Are you ready?”. A new album more mature “more international” in sound and content.
Tamara (1984) is more of sentimental melodic singer. She has a mature voice which transforms old boleros successes and her unmistakable style make it one of the most recognized singers of Spain. She revealed in an interview with EFE, that when I was a teenager I was proposed to represent Spain in Eurovision but I refused as I wasn’t ready for something so important, but now, as she has said, “would have no problem to enter […] She was actually proposed many times when she was 16 and 17 years old but she feels more ready and confident to do it now.
Mirela (1990) (NF Eurovision Junior 2004) (NF Eurovision 2007, 2008, 2009). In recent days she posted on social media where a photo was recording new songs in the studio with Tony Sanchez-Ohlsson (Author of Spain 2007, 2012, 2015 and numerous songs in national finals) something which alerted the Spanish Eurofans.
Maria Isabel (1995) (winner of Junior Eurovision 2004). After reaping an overwhelming success with “Antes muerta que sencilla”, she decided to focus on her studies and she abandoned her musical career. She seems to back though as she releases new album titled “Yo decido”. She recently said in the newspaper “20 minutos” that RTVE contacted her to represent Spain in Eurovision 2016. “I have been calling four consecutive years to go to the competition, but I said no for the studies, because I was far from this world, but now I would put it. “The offer is made, but there is no final decision by me” she says.
Marta Sanchez (1966) A true diva highly tipped to be the representative of Spain in Vienna last year. The thing with Marta is that she would accept the offer to represent Spain the Eurovision Song Contest only if selected internally along with a complete freedom to select her Eurovision entry with her team.
As you can see there are many names tipped to represent Spain in Eurovision 2016, but according to sources, RTVE is keen to select Abraham Mateo which will mean that RTVE could send a male solo act after six years in the contest. This can be rejuvenating and bring fresh air for Eurovision in Spain.
