LJUBLJANA, SLOVENIA – Today we brought you the final interview with EMA participants. But also later today all the songs were released on radio Val 202, we’ve listened to them and here is our review.
Alya & Neno Belan – Misunderstandings
A guitar pop tune. I can see this song rolling on MTV, but is it really for Eurovision? I don’t know. I have pros and cons. The biggest problem would be, how the fans would accept it. After all most of the votes comes from the people hearing the songs for the first time, so in the end it’s all about your taste.
Tim Kores Kori – Once too many times
This song will win the hearts of many many girls in Slovenia. After all he still has X Factor fame.
He sounds a bit like he’s struggling with this typical pop song, so I don’t know how he will sound live. Since the songs for the superfinal will be chosen by the jury only, I would write off this one first.
Jana Šušteršič – Glas srca
Wow! This girl has some energy! She sings, she plays the piano, she has charisma, she just won Got Talent, just like Maja Keuc in 2011, so the question is will she take her footsteps? For me this should be, without a doubt, one of the superfinalists.
I.C.E. – Vse mogoče
Well, you met them in our interview, so you know that they are true rockers. Vse mogoče is starting as a soft rock, but grows into a hard rock son. Lead singer sure knows how to sing, but that is not the question here. It’s: will the jury like them, and give them the chance for the super final?
Clemens – Mava to
Young Clemens is so lovable. You must feel butterflies listening to his music. But is a cute song good choice for Eurovision? Personally, I like the song, but I am scared if it can do well if it wins. If anything else, when you feel down, just listen to Mava to and you will cheer up your mood in no time.
Maraaya – Here for you
First few seconds are slow, and then it grows and it grows. Such an indie pop tune. Some of you will like the violin influence. I like here singing, but the music not so much. Well done for the text. But the jury will probably like it, so it can end up in superfinal.
Rudi Bučar – Šaltinka
Rudi said that he got invited to EMA. It’s a good thing, as I think that this folk song would hardly get picked on the open call. Not so typical for Eurovision. We had something like this in 2010. Remember Narodno Zabavni Rock? Once is enough. I can say that this is another tune definitely not going to superfinal.
Martina Majerle – Alive
Well, well, well. Andrej Babić sure knows how to write songs. It’s a ballad, but not like all the others we had on Eurovision stage. This song has a story, a mystical story, add Martina’s vocal capabilities and you have perfection. Another sure candidate for the super final.
So when it’s all summed up, I think that we will see Jana, Clemens, Maraaya or Martina in the super-final. I would really like to see some of these four battling for the title of next Slovenian Eurovision representative. In the end, if I would have to say, final battle will be between Jana & Martina. Did you listen to the songs? Who is your favourite?
