Singer Michele McGrath tells Jedward to ‘bring it on’
DUBLIN, IRELAND – Michele McGrath has said she’s welcoming the competition from Jedward ahead of the Eurosong contest. The Assets model, who came to fame with Irish band Industry, has said she isn’t worried about the Lucan twins beating her girl band when they go head to head.
“Bring it on! May the best person win at the end of the day,” she said. “I admire them for everything that they’ve done but I don’t mind who is going into the Eurovision. I don’t ever concentrate on everybody else. I can only control myself and my own act. I can only work hard at what I’m doing so I don’t really worry about anybody else. I think that competition is always healthy. It makes you work harder, it makes you graft more – so I don’t mind,” she explained.
Michelle will be joined by band members Leanne Moore and Kim Hayden as Liir battle it out to represent Ireland on the European stage.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Michele revealed she always wanted to enter the Eurovision contest. “I’ve always wanted to do Eurovision anyway. My last band Industry actually got together with the hope of going to the Eurovision originally but then the plan changed. In Leanne’s case, she has been part of the Eurovision team for Ireland as a backing singer for the past number of years. And last year, Leanne got into contact with me about forming a group which I thought was a great idea,” she explained.
“Then we came across Kim, who obviously was a contestant on The Voice. And we thought her sound was really great, that it would blend really well with both our voices and her look really suited what we envisioned for Liir,” she said. Other acts Liir will have to face in the Eurosong battle include X Factor star Mary Byrne.
