Sergey Lazarev slays with Russian version of his Eurovision entry

RUSSIA – Thunder and lighting at Olympic Park in Sochi with Sergey Lazarev performing his 2016 Eurovision entry, You are the only one, slaying the stage with one more amazing performance. of course we all are waiting for him to keep his promise and return to Eurovision in 2018 and hold the trophy this time.
Despite winning the tele voting in a year when Russia was the must-to-hate country, Sergey Lazarev is enjoying great success with dozens of concerts given since then (and all of them sold out).
New Wave Festival, the most important music festival in Eastern Europe is of course the place to be and the organisers trust him as he is one of the jury members, who will eventually decide tomorrow’s stars (and why to Eurovision representatives in various countries).
Let’s not forget that back in 2002 along with his band SMASH, Sergey was the first ever winner of New Wave Festival.
In 2008, he was a candidate to represent Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song “Flyer”. He finished fourth in Russia’s national final, which was won by Dima Bilan. As his international fame rose, he performed to full-capacity crowds at The Opera House in Bournemouth, England on 23 March 2008 as a supporting act to British dance group Booty Luv.
Also in 2008, Lazarev won MTV’s Artist of the Year Award. Consequently, releasing the video of the Russian version of the song “Almost Sorry”, this one being the fifth and last single of the album. Songwriters of the Russian version were Chris Landon, Taryn Murphy and Lara D’elia.
On 10 December 2015, it was announced that Lazarev would represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm with a song by the Greek top author, Dimitris Kontopoulos. In the final, he reached third place with his song “You Are the Only One”, Lazarev won the televote with 361 points, and came fifth with the national jury scoring 130 points.
We will not forget his vacation in Lisbon and the video clip making along with Dima Bilan. His visit in Lisbon sparkled the rumours for him coming back to Eurovision in 2018 although the Russian national rbaodcatser have to clarify among them which one of them will participate and what will happen with their promise to Yulia Samoilova after the international incident with her banning from the Ukraine 2017 Eurovision Song Contest edition.
