September 10 ➡️ the latest #Eurovision headlines
Fotis Konstantopoulos (Greece)
ISRAEL – With a lot of suspicions we are still awaiting the EBU decision on the 2019 Eurovision Host City despite everything pointing to Tel Aviv with dates to be rumoured for May 21, 23, 25. It seems there are pressures from Jerusalem. Weirdly almost two weeks after the EBU inspection of the potential venues it was easy to exclude Eilat but not to announce the final shot city, venue and dates.
LITHUANIA – LRT announced that national selection will be narrowed to eight shows this year and we are more the glad.
NORWAY – Almost 1,200 songs submitted to NRK for Melodi Grad Prix 2019, through which Norway will decide its participation in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest and the broadcaster seems to be thrilled with the amount, the interest and the quality of the songs.
GREECE – Demy, the 2017 Greek entrant, got the third prize in the New Wave Festival in Sochi. Dan Rozin, from Russia won the festival this year. New Wave Festival seems to sparkle Eurovision rumours as last year DoReDos got their ticket to Eurovision due to their success in Sochi as they were one of the three winners. Could Dan Rozin be in the mind of Russian broadcaster? Could Demy attract ERT interest after a such successful participation?
SWITZERLAND – Happy news from Switzerland. The 2014 Swiss entrant, Sebalter is one of the 13 artists in the poll of the Italia Swiss broadcaster for their internal selection. You can support him here as he bids with the song “We’ll Carry The Light”
BELARUS – Naviband announce new song release on September 17th. Stay tuned…
ISRAEL – Netta has won the prize for breakthrough woman of the year and song of the year in the annual awards in her country. Netta is currently celebrating the new Hebrew year in the USA as she is seeking new horizons in her artistic touch.
CZECH REPUBLIC / HUNGARY – Let’s now choose a pet. Vaclav, Czech participant in Eurovision, walked out with a leopard while Hungarian entrants AWS adopted a pig.
DENMARK – First ever JESC participant Anne Gadegaard is pregnant and she sharing it with us on Instagram.
NORWAY / ICELAND – Brigitta Haukdal and Greta Salomé are going to star in the Halloween Horror Show.
SAN MARINO – In the meantime, SMRTV is playing the hard-to-get as they announce they haven’t decided if they will participate in Eurovision 2019. Although they submitted their preliminary participation papers they have time till mid October to withdraw without penalty.
