SANREMO’S FIRST NIGHT A THRILLER
SANREMO, ITALY – Yesterday evening, the famous Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo started in quite an original way. The festival is famous for its loooong and rather boring and too talkative introductions. But this year‘s opening will remain in Sanremo’s history!
First, as the show was just stating, the huge curtain could not be lifted up for a few minutes! The host of the night, Fabio Fazio, had to deliver his opening speech in from of a closed stage! As he was delivering a rather political speech about how Italy is a broken country that needs to be repaired he was interrupted by shouts from above.
Two desperate workers from Naples where indeed screaming from the highest balcony, threatening to commit suicide if Fabio refused to read their letter. After long negotiations between the host and the two men, the show could eventually start after Fabio read part of the message and the two Neapolitans where put in safe place.
Let’s hope that the next 4 evenings of the festival will be more serene.Yesterday evening, the 7 first Campioni (established singers) performed two songs each and the public and a jury chose which of their two tracks would be qualified for the final. Here are the results:
Frankie Hi-NRG – Pedala
Antonella Ruggiero – Da Lontano
Raphael Gualazzi & The Bloody Beetroots – Liberi O No
Cristiano De André – Il Cielo E Vuoto
Perturbazione – L’Unica
Giust Ferreri – Ti Porto A Cena Con Me
Tonight, the 7 other « Campioni » will go on stage.
