RUSSIA 2014: TOLMACHEVY TWINS TO COPENHAGEN
MOSCOW, RUSSIA – In 2006 Junior Eurovision Song Contest Tolmachevy Twins won the contest in Bucharest, Romania. Since then they grown enough to represent Russia in the 59th Eurovision Song Contest. This is not the first time Junior Eurovision participants (and also winners) are representing their country in senior Eurovision edition as Nevena Bozovic member of Moje 3 represented Serbia in 2013.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE TWINS
Anastasiya and Maria Tolmachevy are twins and child singers from the Russian city of Kursk. At the age of nine, they won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Bucharest, Romania, with their song Vesenniy jazz. Their song was selected from amongst the 200 singers and bands around Russia that participated in the national selection competition. In the national final held on 4 June 2006 they were finally chosen from 20 acts to represent their country in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which they won clearly. They received 154 points, beating Belarus that got 129 points. The twins released an album called Polovinki in 2007, and have appeared in a made-for-TV movie in Russia. The twins appeared in the opening act of the first semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 on 12 May.
