EUROPE – Do you have a better combination than a beach with a mojito on the one hand and your mobile reading the latest Eurovision news. Well here they are
ROMANIA – Ovidiu Anton was recently interviewed regarding the Eurovision Song Contest. The country which was expelled from Eurovision 2016 the very last minute forcing Ovidiu out of the competition is now eligible to participate again as the government decided to find a legal way to pay its debt. But Ovidiu Anton is still upset: “I am not interested to associate my name with the EBU or Eurovision. The injustice that they did to me makes it impossible to associate my name with the Eurovision brand ever again. They proved that they do not treasure music, but only money. […] My Eurovision adventure ended with that ugly gesture. […] Someone has to pay, but not by selling my presence there. I earned my place [in the competition] this year and the damage that they did to me cannot be repaired with selling my participation.”
POLAND – TVP seems to go big for two major music events in the country: Eurovision Song Contest and Festival in Opole. TVP according to regional media consider to make regional qualifying rounds to various cities in the country in order to use the Melodifestivalen idea to promote various cities and create bigger interest to the national audience for the events. It’s not sure that the projects will commence their marathons this fall but for sure the country is really thinking big!
SPAIN – Rumours are now confirmed. Those of us who saw inside the arena a fight between Barei and Federico Llano were right. Bare in recent interview to local media said that she had a fight with Spanish national broadcaster throughout her venture prior to Stockholm. Bare was asking for a direct contact with SVT in order to make her stage presentation as accurate as possible to her original plans but TVE kept denying. TVE (hinting the Spanish HoD) also didn’t want her to fall on stage, something that led her to even threaten with withdrawal. It’s no secret that the artists and TVE every year do not have the best of relations. But having that said by the artist itself it’s always better than saying it from our side as a rumour!
PORTUGAL – Carlos Costa from Festival da Canção 2012 and winner of Pirogovsky Rassvet – International Contest for Pop Singers 2013 posted on Facebook that he has the ultimate song to represent his country in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. He is controversial and eccentric and not exactly the top choice of the Portugues fans but you never know. It’s also said (from his side) that his song was asked by Swiss Television for the Eurovision Song Contest but he preferred to keep it for Portugal!
LUXEMBOURG – Will the Grand Duchy come back to the Eurovision Song Contest? Well according to L’essential, the Petitions Committee of the Government of Luxembourg is set to debate the return of Luxembourg to the Eurovision Song Contest. The last time the country entered the competition was in 1993 while Luxembourg already has five victories in the history of Eurovision.
