EUROPE – Various news came out this weekend for the Eurovision fans. Here is a small round up for the lovers of the senior and junior Eurovision Song Contest.
- Slovenian national broadcaster not only confirm participation in Sofia’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest but they are holding a national selection for it. While submissions due on August 31st, RTVSlo is preparing two semifinals and a final for the MINI EMA 2015. In each semi-final three acts will compete and two will proceed to the final. In the final 100% public vote will decide the Slovenian representative to Sofia.
- In the meantime two more countries confirmed participation in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest: Belarus and Iceland last week confirmed their participation to Stockholm’s 61st Eurovision edition.
- MAD VMA after a week of postponement due to the Greek crisis and referendum, aired tonight via ALPHA TV which airs nationwide. The full performances are available here including those of Eurovision stars like Sakis Rouvas, Kostas Martakis, Melisses and more with pick of the night the cover performance of “Golden Boy” by 2010 national finalist Eleni Foureira. Video is available below.
- The Bosnian representative at 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, Dino Merlin, has weighed in on his country’s non-participation at the contest in recent years. Merlin says, “I think you should only go when you have something to present, it doesn’t have to be rich but it should be solid. You shouldn’t go just to participate”. He adds, “If there is any doubt, we should just skip an edition. Other countries do that as well. They wait for a better chance”.
