ROMANIA – Stig Rästa was one of the first musicians to see potential in Sergiu, back in 2017 when he composed him the track We Were Young. And now Sergiu is back at Romanian Selectia Nationala.
Today, on the 7th of November, Sergiu released his new track Un Nou Inceput (EN: “A New Beginning”) and he wants to participate at the Romanian National Selection for Eurovision. But Sergiu has thought for a very long time whether he’s going enter the ESC race or not. “Fear has been the biggest enemy in my career. It has destroyed my self-confidence and opportunities. It’s so weird: when I’m singing at my concerts, I have no problems, but when I’m on TV, I am almost breathless . Because I know that at my concerts, people come to enjoy the music. On TV, people will judgeme.
So I have a choice to stay in my. comfort zone or try becoming a better performer. That’s why I decided to enter the Selectia Nationala again.
Was my performance from last year better than the one from 2017? Yes. Was there any room for improvement? Of course.”
Sergiu is an indie singer based in Bucharest, Romania. He became known to the Eurovision fandom in 2017 when he released Stig’s song We Were Young. Since then, Sergiu released his first album this September, Un Nou Inceput being one of the tracks.
Un Nou Inceput is the first confirmed song for Selectia Nationala, and one of the few European songs we know is hoping to participate at Eurovision in Tel Aviv.v
