Romania 2017: auditions began and you can laugh or cry
ROMANIA – Auditions for the 2017 Selecția Națională kicked off. Out of 84 submissions, 72 proceed to the audition phase, which doesn’t necessarily mean that we have the best of the best. Many of the submitted and qualified entries are now available on YouTube and from what we heard they are either for laugh or tears.
Among those submitting a song of course who else? Mihai Traistariu (MIHAI) the 2006 Romanian representative in the Athens Eurovision Song Contest edition. Surprise is the return of Ovidiu Anton, who despite stating many times he doesn’t want to hear about Eurovision again, after what happened to him with the TVR / EBU dispute, submitted a song as a composer, titled “Escape” and performed by Miryam.
Head of Delegation Iuliana Marciuc, songwriter Andrei Tudor, singers Paula Seling, Ovi Jacobsen, Luminita Anghel, and songwriter Adrian Romcescu are forming the jury. The live auditions will be aired from February 5th to February 11th. On the 12th and in a live show the finalists will be announced. The semi final is set for February 26th and the final for March 5th.
We hope TVR has paid its obligations to EBU this year!
