BUCHAREST, ROMANIA – Romania will host its national Eurovision selection in Baia Mare, with a semifinal on March 4, followed by the final on March 6. Sala Polivalenta will host the show. Romania’s seventeenth largest city will play host to the event as it has reportedly agreed to cover part of the costs for staging the contest.

Singers can still submit their entries to the Romanian broadcaster, TVR, until February 7. In the semi final, the jury will decide the four qualifiers to the final and the audience the remaining two acts. In the final, only the audience will have a say who will represent Romania in Stockholm.

Romania has achieved a top 5 placing in the Eurovision Song Contest final since 2010. It was closest to win in 2014 when it was the runner up to Austria. Last year, Voltaj represented the country, coming fifth.
