PRESS & MEDIA DISAGREE WITH RUNNING ORDER
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – Yesterday, after the second semi-final, the production team gathered in an EBU « conclave » to establish the running order for the 2014 Grand Final.
Minutes after the list was published, reactions spread all over the press centre and EuroClub. Why 3 former soviet republics to open the show? Why Sweden right at the end of 1st semi-final? Why should the UK be last to perform? And so on…
I also have one single question: be why doesn’t the EBU do a simple draw so that no one can complain or express his dissatisfaction? That would really prevent (justified or unjustified) gossiping. When you replace a draw by a human choice you cannot expect any positive reaction.
And by the way, in 57 contests (there was a draw until 2013), I’ve never heard any one complain for his running position, or criticize the EBU about his position in the show. Let’s just guess the EBU loves useless drama!
