THE NETHERLANDS – Mister Eurovision Johnny Logan and Linda Martin will be added to the line up of Het Grote Songfestivalfeest (The Road to Eurovision), a unique concert in Ziggo Dome Amsterdam on 15th of December with many former winners of Eurovision Song contest and a couple of memorable acts. This means the show will host a record amount of winners on one stage, succeeding the Norwegian Eurovision Gala in 1981.
Johnny Logan, the famous Irish singer, is known in some countries as ‘Mr Eurovision’. In 1980 he won his first victory with ‘What’s another year’ when the Eurovision Song Contest took place in The Netherlands.
The second time he won was in 1987 with the song ‘Hold me now’. In the nineties he was successful as a composer, writing the song ‘Why me?’ for Linda Martin, giving Ireland its 4th victory.
The final line-up is now complete for Het Grote Songfestivalfeest (The Road to the Eurovision Song Contest) on the 15th of December in Ziggo Dome. Former winners like Loreen, Sandra Kim, Charlotte Perrelli, Dana International, Dima Bilan, Netta and Emmelie de Forest will all perform during this ultimate pre-party for ESF2020 when The Netherlands will host the 65th edition of Eurovision Song Contest.
There will be 32 acts from 17 countries, among them 22 former winners, celebrating the last 50 years of Eurovision Songcontests from 1969 (when Dutch performer Lenny Kuhr won with ‘De Troubadour’) until 2019 (when Duncan Laurence from The Netherlands won in Tel Aviv with ‘Arcade’). The Netherlands has won the contest 5 times since 1956 when Eurovision first started with The Netherlands being one of the seven first participating countries.
It is now bigger than the largest gathering of ESF-winners since 1981, when Norwegian Oslo hosted a Eurovision Gala presenting 29 winners (of which 21 performed on stage) to raise money for the Red Cross.
On the 15th of December thousands of fans will travel to Amsterdam to see one or more of their favorite performers like Keiino from Norway, Eleni Foureira from Cyprus, Mahmood from Italy or Verka Serduchka form Ukraine.
Also former Dutch winners or contestants like Lenny Kuhr, Teach-In, Ruth Jacott, Marlayne, Willeke Alberti and Edsilia Rombley will join this Songfestivalparty as a warming up for more parties to come in 2020 when Rotterdam will host the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest edition.
