ORF estimates costs in 25 million Euros
VIENNA, AUSTRIA – ORF has stipulated that the ESC may cost 25 million euro, with a margin of 10 million for unexpected costs. Exact calculations are not possible for the simple fact that the venue has not been chosen yet.
The budget doesn’t calculate the income and one has to keep in mind that the broadcasters get over 8 hours of prime time television. For the moment 4 possible venues are still considered.
They are the Stadthalle and Neu Marx in Vienna, the Stadthalle in Graz and Olympiaworld in Innsbruck. In the coming week a technical teach of the austrian broadcaster will go to all location to look into the technical options and to speak with local authorities.
The Stadthalle in Vienna is favourite, but there is an issue with the agenda. Though the mayor of Vienna told to be willing to build a second hall, not only for the sake of the Eurovision but also because Vienna could use a second hall. According to the last rumours Innsbruck would have also pretty good chances.
We’ll definately know more in the coming weeks and months.
