On the effort to convince Greece to remain in the contest
ATHENS, GREECE – The Greek national broadcaster and the EBU high levelled executives (Jean Paul Philippot, Ingrid Deltenre, Jane Vizard) met last week in Athens to discuss the delayed NERIT – EBU deal over becoming an official EBU active member, something which was postponed for various reasons and Greece participated in Eurovision 2014 under exceptional circumstances.
We learned that there were discussions about #Eurovision 2015 as well. The Greek national broadcaster (not really upset because of various other incidents but mostly because of the unfairness of the order of appearance system and the continuously jury under voting since their implementation in 2009) is still considering to abstain from the 60th jubilee edition of the contest.
The team of oikotimes.com along with other organised fans are making everything possible to avoid this and with various proposals we all try to convince that the country needs to participate no matter the outcome. Yes, “Rise Up” was unfairly 20th too. But it’s a music game. No matter the ranking we all saw 11,000 auditors in the arena pumping up and down during the performance and that was really enough for us making Europe rocking that night!
I personally think that all this conspiracy theories and personal complexes of some people inside and around the national broadcaster should stop. We have overrated Eurovision as the most important part of the world: it’s not! It’s just fun and it’s a game. Play with it and dance or stay home and leave us play with our own mood! I strongly believe that we should stop moaning and conspiring and focus on a better produced national final with better songs and high levelled artists instead of bitching and destroying the mood of each other!
