November 13: The best of Malta & JESC 2014 in photos
VALLETTA, MALTA – Through this series of posts I wanna share with you the amazing country Malta is. A place with indescribable beauty a mix of European and oriental sentiment, a unit combination of amazing features and sight seeings. In this post I wanna talk about my morning thoughts on Junior Eurovision 2014 entries.
I woke up a bit late this morning and had to get a nice coffee. I came out of the hotel and decided to have a coffee nearby at U-Bistrot in St. Julians where the photo below is from.
While having my coffee and my laptop on, I had a listen to the rehearsal videos from the past three days. You know me and how harsh I can be in my comments, but this is the first time that although I personally have few favourites I want to see as winners, I have the impression that we have great materials. I had doubts for Sweden, Cyprus, San Marino vocals, but all 16 participants can actually sing. Their songs are well produced at the same time.
With a minor consideration about the song quality of Montenegro I think all songs are carefully made no matter if they are modern, out dated or if they remind me of Poland 1994 like the Russian entry for example. Now when it comes to my prediction I have to say that singers of 10-11 have better chances always in JESC (Malta, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria); but it’s great to see countries like Belarus, Ukraine and Cyprus performing like true adults, professional and confident.
On the other hand the host country is so proud of their hard work (and they did a great work the truth is, and I see they wanna win again not only due to they efforts but they do actually have a great entry). Anyway that’s my thoughts upon the sea breeze of St. Julians bay for this morning!
