November 12: review of rehearsals’ second round
VALLETTA, MALTA – Good morning from Malta and today we have the second round of rehearsals at Marsa Shipbuilding. This is the time we stop the individual posts per country and we have daily summary of the events. We are going to add videos and photo galleries from the official website for the countries we liked the most. Remember you can support your favourite stars at www.oikotimes.com/vote
CYPRUS – SOPHIA PATSALIDES
Outstanding: Sophia is by far ready for senior Eurovision. The girl has a star quality and an attitude on stage. Walking the catwalk with such a confidence and still delivering perfect vocals. This is definitely a potential winner. In any case it’s the best Cypriot entry ever sent to Junior Eurovision and I love the idea of the white outfit which has a tale. The semi curly hair style with the outfit bring me the impression she is the modern goddess Athena. I am almost sure Cyprus will fight hard with Malta and Ukraine for the trophy! My only objection is the graphics: The most wonderful day sang by Sophia cannot be thunderstorms and rain!
BULGARIA – KRISIA
Krisia is giving her first live performance. She is not bad at all. For those who want JESC to be all about kids’ performance, Krisia is the best choice for them. She is a baby smurf singing perfectly an emotional song that no one can ignore. Despite the 2nd place in order of appearance there is hope for her. Lots of Eurofans love this entry and why not to have another winner from spot number 2 like Croatia in 2003 JESC edition.
UKRAINE – TRIO SYMPHO-NICK
The three girls from Ukraine are so energetic and they are so social, leaving the best impressions to everyone. Vocally perfect with their light blue dresses they present a mystic fairytale and ambient music makes this worth of attention. Ukraine is definitely rising in my predictions. It’s even possible to win the entire thing. Perfect stage presentation and graphics.
ITALY – VINCENZO CANTIELLO
Totally anthem song by Italy, remind us the good old days of Eurovision. Vincenzo is giving indeed an outstanding vocal performance but I am not sure this song can be appealing enough to win Junior Eurovision 2014. Solo performance and vocals are flawless and it is great to see the Italian flag in this show.
RUSSIA – ALISA KOZHIKINA
The Russian song is in full development today. It is exactly of two things: I see a copy of Gaia’s performance from Junior Eurovision 2013 and I am listening to Poland 1994 from senior Eurovision. Alisa’s song is so similar (not claiming plagiarism, I am not a musician to say so) to “To hie ja” by Edyta Gorniak. Despite these two factors I have to admit Alisa is one of the best performers in terms of vocals in the Junior Eurovision 2014. Especially with her good draw, Russia will definitely fight for the trophy but I am not sure they deserve it (for various reasons).
ARMENIA – BETTY
Armenia came to Malta as an outsider, but this entry is growing every time Betty rehearses. This applies again today as Betty is not only energetic but she is also proven to have worked hard on vocals and stage presentation. So far we knew there were two boys dancing alongside to Betty but now we have acrobatic movements of three female aerialists!!! (something that it is allowed for the second time in a Eurovision contest if you recall Azeri entry in senior Eurovision 2014). Watch out of this song, it’s somehow brainwashing and the sound of it is totally the gimmick of Junior Eurovision 2014.
SWEDEN – JULIA KEDHAMMAR
From the Dutch Julia to the Swedish one. Julia is taking the stage and performs her entry. No surprise Sweden has one of the best settings on stage with great graphics and lights. The vocals are much better today (even from the studio version of the song) although at some points she is off key. Julia is energetic and wears a light purple jacket with a bluish sparkling T-shirt and skirt. Not a winner but definitely the most improved so far.
THE NETHERLANDS – ULIA VAN BERGEN
If it wasn’t so much of a copy from “Euphoria” I would of totally love it. Julia and her dancers give amazing energy and this entry is no matter what one of the best Dutch entries in Junior Eurovision. Gold jacket for Julia and similar lights on stage make this very impressive. Still I would like something original. Vocal performance is very good and the dance act will surely work on camera in favour of The Netherlands
