CHISINAU, MOLDOVA – As a message of solidarity, the Moldovan national TV station ‘Moldova 1’ offered the idea of collaboration between Ovidiu Anton and the Moldovan representative Lidia Isac.
The Moldovan broadcaster expressed their regrets and disappointment regarding the circumstances in which Romania was disqualified from the Eurovision Song Contest.
“We regret the fact that the excellent performance of the singer Ovidiu Anton, who won the Romanian national final in 2016, will not be applauded in Stockholm. We consider it as an unhappy precedent thinking about a public television. We express our solidarity with the entire team of TVR and we are very sad that our team will not be in the same venue, to support each other because of our common culture. We are more than sure that the two singers could make an exceptional duet in the First Semi Final with the song ‘Falling stars'”
“We hope that through common efforts we will be able to surpass the moments of crisis. On the 14th of May we invite Ovidiu Anton to Chisinau to perform at an open air concert after the final of Eurovision takes place”
Iuliana Marciuc, the Romanian head of delegation, announced that TVR paid the participation fee for Eurovision 2016 in March. (120,000 Euros).
It is too late now for the two artists to join forces in the Eurovision Song Contest therefore the Moldovan national broadcaster invited Ovidiu Anton to an open concert in Chisinau which will take place after the Grand Final of Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will be over.
special thanks to Alexandru Busa from Romania for the news
Update: Ovidiu Anton responded to the offer saying “I bow in front of our Moldovan brethren. It is an extraordinary, unique, and noble gesture. Because I know how much work goes into preparing such a moment and because I know how important Eurovision is for an artist’s career, I would not want to affect Lidia’s performance, in which she invested so much energy. The song matches her beautifully and, however much I want to be on the stage that I have dreamed of, I cannot accept to do it by risking another artist’s chance. I would like to perform “Moment Of Silence” for Romanians and Eurovision fans everywhere. Good luck, Lidia! It is your moment and you are going to shine! Thank you all once again for this special gesture. I will never forget.”
