MGP 2013: SEMIFINAL 1 RESULTS
The first Semifinal in Melodi Grand Prix 2013 (MGP) kicked of tonight, live from Steinkjer, Norway. Vidar Busk, Datarock and Gromth feat. Emil Solli-Tangen are the three artists that are the first to secure their place in the final of MGP 2013.
The show in Steinkjer started a few minutes late because of an expanded news broadcast, but after that MGP kicked off from Steinkjer with a wild and enthusiastic audience. Seven artists performed and televoting decided the three songs that proceeded to the final in Oslo, that will take place 9th February.

This evening Norwegian televoters choosed to send an interesting mix of music styles covering rockability, disco and metal-opera to the final in Oslo. Next semfinal takes place 26th January from Florø, at 20.00 CET and is sent live on nrk.no/mgp. The songs and artists competing next week will be revealed next Thursday on a live show on NRK.
About the winning entries
Vidar Busk competed for the very first time in MGP tonight. He won the Spellemannprisen in the categories Artist of the Year (1998) and Blues Record of the Year (2003).To be mentioned is also his co-composer of the song “Paid My Way” Tim Scott McConnell, he is a rock-legend that was born in Florida and started a career in the US, but has lived in Norway since 1983. He was also a member of the band Havalinas during the 80’s.
Datarock also competed fo rthe first time in MGP, but has a long and sucessfull carer. They first appeared 12 years ago and has since then made over 850 concerts in 36 countries on 5 continents, Datarock says.
Black Metal meet opera when Gromth from Eastern Norway and Emil Solli-Tangen (brother of Didrik, Norwegian entrant in 2010) from Porsgrunn united on Steinkjer’s Melodi Grand Prix stage.
