MESC 2014: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
VALLETTA, MALTA – The 2014 Malta Eurovision Song Contest will bring different music flavours this year. Besides showcasing the twenty local artists battling for the golden ticket to Copenhagen, Denmark, the festival will also provide supplementary entertainment by local and international guests.
During the semi-final on Friday we will be able to see four guests performing. Emmelie de Forest will take the stage with her 2013 Eurovision winner song called Only Teardrops.
The show will also include the Ukrainian finalist for Eurovision Song Contest 2014 Maria Yaremchuk. Maria will perform her Eurovision song called Tick Tock. Matthew James Borg and Peter Borg from the local rock pop band Red Electrick and the Maltese pop alternative rock band The Crowns will also perform during the show.
During the final on Saturday, all eyes will be on Malta not only because of the Maltese final but also because Emmelie de Forest will be premiering Rainmaker. This is the first time that Emmelie de Forest shall perform Rainmaker, making the Malta Eurovision Song Contest a unique platform to launch the official theme song for the Eurovision Grand Final in Copenhagen, Denmark in May 2014. On her own special request, the Eurovision reigning queen will be joined by the 14 Maltese finalists during her performance.
Other guest entertainment on Saturday will include the 2013 Junior Eurovision winner Gaia Cauchi who will open the show on Saturday with a special performance. The show will also include Sebalter, the Swiss Eurovision representative who will perform his Eurovision entry Hunter of Stars. The popular Maltese comic duo Gorg u Pawlu will perform a cool mix of their 2013 hit single Hot and Famous and their latest song called Unique. Finally the well-known local band Winter Moods will debut a brand new powerful ballad called Everlasting at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. Everlasting is taken from the band’s upcoming new album which is due for release before summer.
The three hosts of the show are none other than former Malta Eurovision winners Ira Losco and Gianluca Bezzina, together with TV presenter Moira Delia.
The Malta Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th February at the Malta fairs and Convention Centre in Ta’ Qali.
