Catarina Furtado spoke recently about the criticism she received while hosting the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. Many press posts claimed that she was not adequate for the hosting, she looked as if she was bored and stressed. Catarina responded that she had to work extremely hard and her mood at the voting procedure was misunderstood by the press. She was so exhausted from the work reaching to say that “if I go though this, I can do anything in my life”
After Carolina Casado’s iconic ‘oit points’ in 2014, Spain’s votes at the Eurovision Song Contest are under the spotlight of Eurofans due to the notorious difficulties of Spanish spokesmen’s pronunciation in English. After two interventions without any error, presenter Nieves Álvarez yielded to the pressure and greeted with Europe with “Good evening, Tel Aviv. Good evening, Europe from, from Granada of the Alhambra”. In the social networks, the intervention of the presenter was furious.
Singer Michela stated that following her Eurovision experience, she will work on a new album consisting of new material which possibly will include some of the songs recorded in recent months as part of the selection of the song, Chameleon, with which she participated at the Eurovision final and placed 16th. Speaking to journalists after meeting the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat at Castille, the 18-year old singer said that she is very proud of successfully representing Malta and was chosen by EBU to open the contest’s final evening. Accompanied by her parents and PBS chief executive, Charles Dalli, Michela stated that the most moment she will cherish is the humbleness of popular and experienced singers. (Source: TVM)

Once again Russian entrant suffered from the bias of various juries and of course nothing has changed since 2016. Sergey points out that 17 juries gave him null points while he was a top ten favourite for months and despite hs huge views on YouTube and Spotify streams. He states:
“THE JURIES of 17 countries thought that this performance is rated with 0 points! For example, all the members of the jury of Georgia put this performance at the last place. Amount of points from the juries: 125. The song is in ITunes Charts of 19 countries. Music video “Scream” in YouTube scored a total of over 10.000.000 views. The same figure (almost 9.000.000) is the total number of views of performances in the Final and Semi Final!”
The Lithuanian Head of Delegation, Audrius Giržadas, admitted that the selection process of the country for the Eurovision 2020 Song Contest could undergo changes, due to several criticisms of the Eurovizijos model. With this statement Lithuania becomes the 19th country confirming participation for the Dutch Eurovision edition in 2020.
