ISRAEL – Welcome to the Grand Final press rehearsal. In this report you will have a summary of the performances so keep refreshing for updates. Italy, The Netherlands and Germany top the Gay Romeo voting which is ongoing while The Netherlands, Australia and Swedenlead the odds for the trophy in the booking houses. In the meantime you can still vote I the grand final phase of EUROPREDICTION in which more than 5,000 unique votes have been cast (opened last night immediately after the second semi final). In total we have more than 155k votes in this year’ EUROPREDICTION achieving 8/10 in the first semi final and 9/10 in the second semi final.
In summary of the news so far: in the first semi final 10th and 11th country and only 2 points distance, in the second semi final 10th and 11 country had 1 point difference. According to newspaper Afobladet EBU has instructed juries to vote based on performance and not in terms of production following dozens of complaints for the camera work and the LEDS.
The intro of the show includes Jon Ola Sand as air traffic controller, Netta piloting and a sightseeing of Tel Aviv with people waiting to welcome he stars and the contest. The camera work is amazing. The 1979 Israeli song is featured in this intro video and it’s amazing with the countdown, an old air jet with lights all over the arena feature in the less of the arena. LED screens open and people de-board. The flag parade begins with flight attendants carrying the flags and TOY playing. Countries all in running order parade. The announcement of each country includes greetings in the country’s language. Dana International is also there singing TEL AVIV YAHABIBI version which sounds amazing as well mixing it with DIVA. After Estoias entrance a small break with 1973 Israeli entry. The parade continues with other Israeli hits and Eurovision entries such as Nadav’s 2015 entry which fits perfect for Tel Aviv hosting. A voting history video is now aired and the hosts continue with the show.
Malta was the first to rehearse but the show stops during Michela’s rehearsal…
Malta unchanged with a good vocal performance, Albania same unchanged and powerful once again, Czech Republic happy and enjoyable as we now it. Although not sisters German entry sounds powerful although it is aired too early. Some note missed though. In the meantime The Netherlands keep the trophy odds with 47% possibilities account to the bets followed by Australia with 11% possibilities to win. Russia is next. Sergey is obviously saving himself for tonight jury show, changed and powerful performance.
Denmark’s Leonora was not a surprise for many of us although we doubted would easily qualify. Told you before, Denmark sneaks in with such safe and almost indifferent songs. They actually won with such a different song in 2000. San Marino is next and we don’t wonder who got the 10th spot in the first semi final with just 2 points difference from the 11th song. honestly this mans sings out of tune and not just in rehearsals, but anyway we need a song to rank 26th on Saturday right? Someone will anyway. North Macedonia follows with another powerful performance, Tamara finally made her country qualify retaliating for the miss of 2008 and 2009 final for just few points. But don’t we have already seen too many women empowerment songs? The good thing is that for many years now North Macedonia skipped the ethnic tunes and turned into modern songs. Sweden is giving one more powerful performance and for the first time press area reacts. Slovenia follows up with this un-nerved performance which is chip, ambient and lovable. But the couples heavily criticised for their behaviour at press conference. unfortunately Sala and Gasper spent public money by participating for no team for victory or high ranking, rude behaviour and literally living in the own bubble world. It is said that the duo apologised.

Cyprus is next. Performance and reactions have not been positive for Tata, at least for winning material many expected. Bad draw by the way (before The Netherlands). It was also funny to see The Sun paper mentioning that Tamta is showing of her … with that outfit. Anyway an out of tune performance obviously saving voice for tonight, the camera work hopefully will for today, CyBC has been complaining as well. Betting odds for Cyprus falling big time. Big favourite The Netherlands next: no doubt Duncan gives a greta performance, my ONLY personal problem with this song is that the tune is having nothing to make it loveable. I will not listen to it after Eurovision. Anyway we admit it’s one of the best Dutch entries and had 47% chances to win according to the odd. Greece is next and Katerine gives once more promising performance but after Duncan and with that draw, Greeks must not be anticipating good results. You know that organisers lost one balloon and delegation had to use the back up one. Big thing that after many years Greece qualifies with a song and a singer that all Greeks appreciate / respect whether they like it or not. The host country is next with Kobi performing once again and nailing the song. Everytime he finishes his performance he cries. Excellent host country entry choice. Norway was surprise for m at least: they didn’t sing well and there song is a clear copy of Monsters, but it seems that people love it. Was it the country gtting the 10th spot by 1 point from the 11th one? Tom messed with lyrics last night by the way, saying the second lyrics line twice.
United Kingdom has its first rehearsal for the grand final with a powerful vocal performance but I doubt public will vote for this one. Iceland is so out of the Eurovision norms but I wont be surprised if they rank 2nd in the grand final. Have in mind that BDS activists will ally behind them and try to mess with the public voting. Estonia is next vocals are somehow good but it’s still a rehearsal. Simple, safe and effective solo performance but cannot see it ranking high in the final. Belarus is next with a nice pop song, Zena’s song is similar in style with Michela’s and when you have in one show two similar style songs, they both loose in the voting. Azerbaijan gives one more stunning performance and Chingiz is definitely betting for the top five. It does sound a bit like Bulgaria 2018, right? France is now on stage. Besides Bilal lots of people cheer for the plus size ballerina. The songs ends with e screens turn ROI into QUEENS. Too LGBT sentiment but somehow it’s needed with all the racism ruling out there.
Italy and Mahmood is ending his performance without a smile. Good rehearsal with a powerful message in the song which unfortunately doesn’t have dynamics to spread. It is clear that Italy again, doesn’t want to win. Serbia is next: great performance once again by Nevena a song which is certainly juries material but no surprise if this one ends up in the top ten. Switzerland will have the best result since their 2005 8th place. Luca has excellent draw lot and his performance is promising. Bets now fav origin him by rating his chances to win and actually Switzerland can win with this one! The sad news for Luca is that Australia follows. Kate and her stage performance are simply stunning. What we first though when watching this in the Aussie selection as kitsch has turned to be the favourite of all ere. Excellent! Spain is the country ending the competition part this year (although the one stoped when started and re run again). Nice party dance act but the props and the staging is on the edge of total kitsch. For me it’s not working and convincing. I am surprised because Foas Evangelinos is suppose to be master of these things.

At this point the hosts open the voting process and we have the fist recap. Then we have the legends acts. In a theatrical way we have the legends singing different songs. Conchita sings heroes, sounds kinda funny. Mans sounds for an insane reason sexy with his ballad version of Fuego, Foureira is looking as a cartoon dominatrix troll sining Lasha Tumbai. Verka with his 2007 outfit is lip-syncing the TOY song by Netta. Nice intervals of far. Gali Atari is called to join the legends on stage and sing her 1979 legendary song which all of us sing and became a big hit worldwide.
No point into further description let’s keep some magic for the I’ve show tomorrow night. Follow our jury show review at 21:00 CET with a live poll and in the meantime keep voting in EUROPREDICTION poll and determine the predicted winner.
