NORWY – On the very national day, KEiiNO had to go through a decisive run late Friday evening, which was to decide half of Saturday’s result. The other half consists of telephone voices from the public during the live broadcast. On two occasions in a short time, the screen became black while KEiiNO performed “Spirit In The Sky”. When the picture came back again, the camera recorder was in the picture.
Norway has filed a complaint for errors with the TV images under Norway’s jurisprudence. Here, the Norwegian delegation was told that the error would not have any consequences for the further winding up of the jury trial. Therefore, NRK has chosen to submit a formal complaint to the EBU. The EBU has also rejected the formal complaint.
– We are, of course, very disappointed with the decision, and hope that it will not adversely affect the jury, says Stig Karslen.
Editorial manager at NRK Entertainment Eirik Sandberg Ingstad saw the error from the wardrobe in Tel Aviv, and says KEiiNO deserves a new attempt.
– This was a serious technical error in production. We believe Norway deserves a new chance since this is a counting jury trial, says Ingstad to NRK.
Before Norway was on stage on Friday night, Norway was ranked 10th on the odds lists of Eurovisionworld.com. So far, the error does not seem to affect Norway’s location. Head of MGP club Morten Thomassen hopes Norway will get another chance.
– EBU’s rejection I think was a bit hard, but then it wasn’t bad enough according to them. But I hope they will sing again. It is stupid if technical failures are to destroy such an important performance, says Thomassen.
The EBU previously issued a call in advance of the second semi-final, stating that the jury had to consider the songs and disregard the stage show. It writes Wiwibloggs.
On social media, several have shown their support to KEiiNO. Some also pointed out that there were other cases of technical failure during the run.
Earlier in the day, the Norwegian representatives celebrated both national day and final place in Eurovision. This took place in the Embassy home in Israel.
