The host asked ESDM what their impressions are about Malmo? ESDM responded its similar size to where they live in Spain, so very comfortable. ESDM were asked what the message of their song was? The answer was love and peace. Recently ESDM recorded their latest album in South America, how much do they feel that South America has inspired their music? They answered that they have introduced music styles into their music from where they are visiting, but yes South America is high in their influences. What is your expectation of your Eurovision experience and from the Spanish people? The answer is that we only have 3 minutes, so we want to “enjoy”. Swedish media asked ESDM if they hear Robin Sternberg? They like very much the Swedish song and like Robin as a person and as an artist. What will happen to ESDM after the contest? A tour will continue after the contest and they hope to visit South America once again. Finally Raquel (ESDM) drew the “First Half” from the ballot to perform on Saturday.
FRENCH PRESS CONFERENCE
DRAWN IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE FINAL
Amandine Bourgeios is representing France with the song “L‘enfer et Moi” (Hell and Me). Amandine Bourgeios won “La Nouvelle Star” (French Pop Idol) in 2008 and in 2009 went on to release her debut album “20m” which was certified Gold. In 2012 she recorded her second album “Sans amour mon amour” at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London with the late Amy Winehouse and Plan B’s staff. Amandine uses her inner emotions to sing, write and feed her inspiration. Some of her most beautiful memories is a duet in which she performed with Scorpion and the opening for Johnny Hallyday’s concert in London.
Meanwhile, back in Malmo and following on from her second dress rehearsal, Amandine told us that the rehearsal was very nice and a good job. Thank you to SVT. Everyone is curious what you will wear on Saturday? Amandine said it’s a dress that was created by the same designer as Lady Gaga uses and that the dress was the same one that she was wearing today for the dress rehearsal. One of the journalists asked if being a part of the French Pop Idol a few years back has helped here in Eurovision? Amandine thinks that it has helped for her confidence and experience. Since leaving French Pop Idol, Amandine has recorded an album and been in London working in studios also. Amandine has worked with “The Scorpions” due to one of her performances being seen on YouTube. Amandine visited Scorpions at his home in Germany and they make a duet in English and French.
Amandine thinks that her Eurovision entry really suits her style of music, she likes blues, folk and rock styles. One of the journalists asked when Amandine will next jump out of a plane? The response was “Saturday” as it’s the same kind of Adrenalin. On Saturday there is a programme in France that will be play against Eurovision (The Voice), how would Amandine convince the French people to watch Eurovision? She replies well… The voice does not have Anouk, Amandine, Cascada & Bonnie Tyler performing. (The conference laughed).
GERMAN PRESS CONFERENCE
DRAWN IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE FINAL
Cascada are representing Germany with the song “Glorious“. For over a decade, Lead-singer Natalie Horler and her team of producers and writers Yann Peifer and Manuel Reuter have topped the charts in more than 20 countries with their irresistible dance-pop songs. Their world-wide hits include “Everytime We Touch”, “Miracle”, “Summer Of Love”, “The Rhythm Of The Night”. Meanwhile, back in Malmo and following on from their second dress rehearsal, Natalie told us that it went well and she is very relaxed now, but previously she hah, had a few issues with her vocals which is normal when doing a lot of talking and singing in an event like this. Question from the journalists .. Looking back over your career, your father is a big jazz musician .. How do you think that has effected your path in life? Natalie tells that it’s has fallen naturally to her, and she is very proud of her family. Cascada’s label approached them to ask if they would participate in the German national final? Cascada was very honoured to be asked and thinks it is a fantastic platform no matter what stage your career is at.
The other two members of the band are not on stage with Natalie, is that strange for her? No the other band members are not stage front, they prefer the background part of the stage and leave Natalie to front it. The composers wrote the song with Eurovision in mind, and wanted to make the song accessible to a wide range of people and ages. Where did the name Cascada come from? Natalie mentioned that the name is
Spanish for waterfall. The host asked Natalie if she has fears? The response was that she is nervous, and that she talks too much which is never good for your voice. You can do many things to keep calm, like yoga, but Natalie says that nothing really helps. Natalie told us that she was born and raised in Germany but her parents are both British and as a kid she was placed into German schools so is totally bi lingual .. And in Nathalie’ own words “If this all goes to hell, I can always work in a hotel”. Natalie had a throat operation, did it effect her career? No, she had to take 3 months off afterwards. The operation was due to doing endless concerts night after night .. Too much work. Finally Natalie drew the “First Half” from the ballot to perform on Saturday. Good luck to Germany in the final.
