May 14 / First Rehearsal Iceland: barefooted in gold
María Ólafs is wearing a fluffy short dress (after all she is only 16 years old) and she gives a romantic performance for her entry “Unbroken” one of the best ballads this year in Eurovision 2015. She is not only barefoot but she painted her legs in gold. She has five backing vocals amongst them Hera Bjørk and Selma (1999, 2005).
“I got older. In Belgrade I was 20 – 21 years old”. Elnur became more experienced and convinced on stage. “But the main difference from the participation in Belgrade is that this year I am a solo singer”This is a really big event. But I’m not nervous, at least not now because it’s just our first rehearsal. Still, really looking forward to performing on the Eurovision stage, Maria Olafs from Iceland added. Maria Olafs has had more stage experience than most of her friends. In 2007 she had a small role in a play, which was staged by The National Theatre in Reykjavík. She played the role of Louisa von Trapp in the Sound of Music in the Municipal Theatre in Reykjavík in 2009 – the original movie of the show is one of her all-time favourites. In the same year she played the part of a young Michael Jackson in a tribute show at Reykjavík‘s Broadway Club. In 2014 Maria took the leading role of Ronja The Robber‘s Daughter in Mosfellsbær Theater Group‘s production of Astrid Lindgren‘s play of the same name. (source: eurovision.tv)
