May 13 / Video: How gay Eurovision is? We have the proof!
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM – The most exciting countdown of the year has finally begun, because by the end of next week we’ll know who will be the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna.
But to ease the wait, OUTtv-host Jens Geerts has made a funny personal music video and put it on the Internet. “Stereotype” is a parody of the 2010 music hit ‘Satellite’ of Lena. The video shows the most playful and hidden gay moments from 60 years of Eurovision history.
The Eurovision Song Contest celebrates its sixtieth birthday this year. In all those years the contest brought us a lot of gay icons: ABBA, Celine Dion, Dana International, Loreen, Conchita Wurst, … To name a few. The Eurovision Song Contest is therefore also known as the European Championship for gay men.
Yet, there wasn’t an artist in all those years who dared to sing a love song about gay love. So, although he isn’t a trained singer, the Belgian OUTtv-host Jens Geerts came up with the idea to write a gay Eurovision song himself.
Why? Just because no else did before. If people can write songs about penguins, pirates, vampires, child abuse or singing turkeys, then why not about love between two men?!
Watch the music video by clicking on the link and if you don’t take Jens’ singing skills too seriously, you hopefully enjoy it
