PRESS RELEASE – Greta Salóme takes to the Eurovision stage in the Globe Arena in Stockholm in the first semi-final of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest tonight and performs the Icelandic entry, her own song, “Hear them calling”.
“We’re going to spread the message of the song to as many people as possible. Most of all we’re going to enjoy the moment,” says Greta Salóme. The message of the song is very important to Greta Salóme. It’s about how we are exposed to negative voices and influences and how we should focus on listening to the positive voices because they are the ones that will take you wherever you belong.
As most Eurovision fans will know, Greta Salóme is no stranger to Eurovision. “This is my second time but Eurovision is probably always an amazing experience. I learned a lot in Baku in 2012 and the 10 days we’ve been working in Stockholm have taught me a lot as well.”
The first semi-final of ESC 2016 takes place tonight at 21:00 CEST and will be broadcasted around the world. “I always go on stage to do my best and tonight is all about the message of the song. If I can get that message through, reach people and be a positive voice, at least for the three minutes I have on stage, I will feel like a winner, no matter the postitioning in the contest.”
