MAY 09: TOTALLY LONELY FEELINGS FROM THE DORIANS / VIDEO
Armenia is represented this year in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 by Dorians and their lead singer Gor Sujyan with the song by Tony Iommi “Lonely Planet”. In 2012 they were “forced” to withdraw due to the insecurities they have with their political enemies in Azerbaijan and in 2012 they were surprisingly out of the final. So what will happen this year?
WHAT WE LIKED
Did you know that Gor Sujyan was the backing vocalist of Eva Rivas in 2009? Did you know that Gor would represent Armenia in 2012 but the country unfortunately withdrawn? Not sure if I can find anything to like as I am more of a Eurofan rather than a typical music lover. I guess this is totally out of me. The band looks confident though, they believe in it and the stage colors (mostly red) once again emphasize on the Armenian spirit! well that’s pretty much it…
WHAT WE DISLIKED
We don’t like the song and we see nothing appealing or inspiring to the viewers. They keep saying that the song message is ecological but if you know some things about the Armenians you should always be aware of the hidden political messages within the lyrics.
INFORMATION ABOUT ARMENIA
“Dorians” consists of five musicians: Gor Sujyan (lead vocal), Gagik Khodavirdi (lead guitar), Edgar Sahakyan (bass guitar), Arman Pahlevanyan (keyboards) and Arman Jalalyan (drums). Gor Sujyan, the front man of the rock band, took the decision to become a musician when he first listened to the song Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin, which has been symbolic and, perhaps, fatal. In a very short period of time the young man who never ever took music education has recorded outstanding achievements in the music industry together with his friends Gagik, Arman, Edgar and Arman.
