GREECE – Katerina Duska and her artistic team continue preparations for the second rehearsal on Friday, May 10, 2019, a rehearsal particularly important as journalists and audiences will watch it.
The lighting designer Periklis Mathielis, the sound engineer Yannis Lambropoulos and the musician Yannis Georgioudakis spoke about the details that focus on achieving the aesthetic result according to the vision of creative & art director Efi Goussi, Katerina and the whole team.
“We use all the lights provided on stage with a sophisticated design and details very well planned so that lighting can serve the concept of the song, the story behind the lyrics and win the viewers,” says Pericles Mathielis and adds:
“We believe in singing and that’s why we have chosen a theatrical approach to the lights and not the special effects.”
Pericles Mathielis, with more than 20 years of experience in lighting design and collaborations with the greatest Greek artists, has closely followed the rehearsals of all missions competing with Greece in the first semifinal on May 14th and as he points out “what I have seen so far , we have seen them on the scene of Eurovision.”
Very close to the result of production and to what Katerina wants is currently the Greek team according to the sound engineer Yannis Lambropoulos. “After the first rehearsal, we have made some minor corrections to the vocal sounds and we expect to see now how they will work in the second rehearsal,” he underlines.
“The question is the plans and the telework to serve and highlight the song,” stressed for the Better Love the telecom director Yiannis Georgioudakis, who counts more than 15 years of experience in song competitions, the Thessaloniki Festival and, of course, Eurovision. He argues that in the third attempt / the first rehearsal, the team has reached the desired result “we are working and we hope that on Friday in our last rehearsal we will reach the best possible”.
Stage director for the Greek entry Ms Efi Gousi, spoke about the stage presentation of Katerine Duska, mentioning that they have request for the led graphics and an extra lighting installation which has not been fulfilled yet:
“We have taken care of this to look good and to be clear about what is happening and why it is happening. The graphic that is displayed is something we still experience, we are not sure whether we will keep it because we have asked for a very nice lighting installation that we hope to be able to have and we will see what will work and what will not. It is a tool that we hold to see how it will be attributed to our final picture. We are still silent on it. Surely we are trying for the best.”
