MAY 07: EBU EXPLAINS THE BROCHURE MISUNDERSTANDING
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – This year’s contest is hosted by one of the most open-minded nations on earth. But could it be too open-minded for the EBU?
At the press centre, there is a very helpful Tourism Info, with lots of brochures for the press. But all of them aren’t easy to get. If you need any information about Copenhagen’s gay life, you have to ask for them because those leaflets are hidden from the public eye.
Why? This is just because it’s a request from the EBU who wants to focus on Eurovision as a family show. So leaflets are not ok, but condoms or gay wedding at EuroClub are.
Well… Of course Eurovision is a family event, but has anyone seen children running in the press centre ? If so, call me, I wanna take a picture !
EBU RESPONDS TO THE ISSUE
Sietse Bakker’s response to oikotimes.com was immediate and explaine that they never said to Wonderful Copenhagen to hide the gay brochures. On the contrary the European Broadcasting Union is fine with that, they only asked to remove the box of condoms at the pigeon holes as it’s a working area and press have to – anyway – behave themselves!
