EMMELIE DE FOREST
DENMARK
Denmark is represented this year by Emmelie de Forest and the song “Only Teardrops”. Eurovision Song Contest 2014 might easily go to Copenhagen next year if we believe the bookies and the polls which predict Denmark as the winner for months now. Speaking to SVT, Morten Specht Larsen (drummer) said that Emmelie is totally professional and still cannot accept the title “favourite” as he hasn’t heard the rest of the participating entries.

WHAT WE LIKED
She is quite amazing performer. Looking gorgeous than ever Emmelie takes the stage with her white dress and along with her drummers (in the proper outfits this time) she amazes everyone on stage bringing the goosbumbs to everyone. The last time Denmark won was in Sweden as well and they can definitely can do it again. The stage looks amazing and similar to the colors of the national final stage.

WHAT WE DISLIKED
Some fans and viewers do not like the folk-alike songs. The ethnic elements are something dangerous for a Eurovision entry. So what will happen? If contemporary music prevails then Denmark will not make it. But if the viewers decide to vote on a good song and a good performance then we have our winner. I find the dress a bit out of my style (although it fits perfectly to the song). The title and the lyrics though are very pesimistic and don’t bring any positivity.

INFORMATION ABOUT DENMARK
Growing up in the town of Mariager in the North Denmark region, Emmelie started singing professionally from an early age. Since she was 14, she has been touring all over Denmark with the Scottish musician Fraser Neill, performing both own songs and folk/blues-versions of hits from e.g. Nirvana and Johnny Cash. An important part of Emmelie’s stage performance has always been her footwear – or the lack of it. “I have always preferred singing without wearing high heels or shoes. Being barefoot makes me feel closer to the ground, the earth and makes me feel more relaxed, Emmelie says.
