Marina Maximilian tipped for Eurovision 2015
TEL AVIV, ISRAEL – Israeli press is claiming the country’s broadcaster, IBA, has already selected the country’s 2015 Eurovision Song Contest representative. Singer Marina Maximilian is tipped as Israel’s representative at the forthcoming contest in Vienna.
In case the singer rejects the offer, IBA is hoping to secure Esther Rada. Maximilian’s selection would signal a shift in IBA’s policy which has previously refused to allow singers without military service to represent the country at the contest.
Born in Ukraine, Maximilan came to the public spotlight after participating in the talent show “Kokhav Nolad”, where she came fifth. Many have accused the artist of draft evasion as she has not served in the armed forces, which is compulsory under Israeli law, however, the artist has actually been given a pardon due to mental reasons. Since participating in the talent show, Maximilian has pursued a career in singing and acting.
